Environmental Club

Please join us for our 2nd annual Earth Day Eco Fair on Saturday, April 21st, 2018!
Donations of $10+ are greatly appreciated to offset the cost of this event; The Environmental Club is paying for this event out of fundraising dollars from last year.  All proceeds will go directly back to the club to support environmentalism and sustainability at the school and for the community. Thank you for your support!

Event Updates:
1)  GoodElectronic Recycling - Cancelled  Please scroll to the bottom for more information.


2)  Paper Shredding: 10am-1pm to securely shred and recycle your documents.

3)  Latex paint recycling from 10am-2pm.

4)   ARC drop off site for small household items and clothing.


5) Green Mountain Sustainable Neighborhood volunteers will be on site hosting seminars and fun activities including:


New and partially used detergents, cleaning supplies, shampoo, and conditioner; new diapers and baby wipes; pots, pans, and dishes-Mango House

Gently used books, clothing, shoes, and small household items-ARC and Jefferson County Action Center

Gently used and new bras-I Support the Girls

Financial donations for Jeffco Eats for Jeffco school children and families in need


-11:00 Project for kids to make a reusable bag out of a T-shirt (first come first serve; a guardian needs to be with the child)

-12:30 Composting seminar

-1:30 Zero Waste seminar

-Seed and Plant Swap:  Bring your extra seeds, seedlings, or perennials you’ve dug up to swap (Bring your own bag or box to take seeds and/or plants home)

-Members of the Active Community team on site to answer questions

-PPAN representative on site with Pollinator information; Pollinator friendly bookmarks

-Sustainable Sisters selling wares:  dryer balls, hankies, cotton pads.


6)  TerraCycle Drop Off Site.  Please combine items into the categories listed below. Please empty contents from containers.  If the container can be recycled locally, please do not drop it off with us. We will not be able to sort your items for recycling. Here is a list of acceptable items to recycle with TerraCycle:

TerraCycle® and Brita®
Program accepted waste: Brita® dispensers, Brita® Bottles, Brita® Bottle Filters, Brita® Standard Filters, Brita® Stream Filters, Brita® Longlast Filters, Brita® filter packaging, Brita® faucet filtration systems, and Brita® pitchers

TerraCycle® and Garnier®
Program accepted waste: Hair care packaging such as hair gel tubes and caps, hair spray triggers, and hair paste caps. Skin care packaging such as lip balm tubes and caps, soap dispensers and tubes,  lotion dispensers and caps. Cosmetics packaging such as lipstick cases, lip gloss tubes, mascara tubes, eyeshadow cases, bronzer cases, foundation packaging, powder cases, eyeliner cases, eyeliner pencils, eyeshadow tubes, concealer tubes, concealer sticks, and lip liner pencils.  Please note that any bottle and cap that can be recycled locally should not be dropped off with us.

TerraCycle® and GoGo squeeZ®
Program accepted waste: Healthy snack plastic pouches and caps
In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover applesauce).  No juice pouches.

TerraCycle®, Cascadian Farm, and LÄRABAR
Program accepted waste: Foil-lined energy bar wrappers, foil-lined granola bar wrappers, foil-lined protein bar wrappers, all LÄRABAR foil-lined bar wrappers, and all Cascadian Farm foil-lined bar wrappers.  Please do not include any other foil lined wrapper/packaging; including pop tart packaging, gummy packaging, candy wrappers, etc.


TerraCycle® and Tom's of Maine
Program accepted waste: deodorant containers and caps, toothpaste tubes and caps, soap packaging, floss containers, and toothbrushes.  Please empty these containers.

TerraCycle® and Clif Bar
Program accepted waste: Foil-lined energy bar wrappers; foil-lined granola bar wrappers; foil-lined meal replacement bar wrappers; foil-lined protein bar wrappers; foil-lined diet bar wrappers; Clif Bar & Co. wrappers from Clif Bars, Luna Bars, MOJO, Builders, Crunch, Clif Kid Z-Bar, Kits Organic, Clif Kid Z-Fruit, Shot Bloks, Shot Gels, and Shot Drinks; pouches from Clif Organic Energy Food.  Please empty contents. Please do not include any other foil lined wrapper/packaging; including pop tart packaging, gummy packaging, candy wrappers, etc.

TerraCycle® and Colgate®
Program accepted waste: Toothpaste tubes and caps, toothbrushes, toothpaste cartons, toothbrush outer packaging, and floss containers.
Please note: Electric toothbrushes, battery toothbrushes, and/or their parts are not recyclable through the program.  Please empty contents.

7)  Healthy Schools Initiative Booth

8)  There will be 2-4 food trucks on site:  Ragbagbistro, Kona Ice, Rippici’s Italian Gelato, MC Chef -Food Truck

GoodElectronic Recycling -Cancelled

Due to unforeseen complications with electronics recycling at our Eco Fair, the Hutchinson Elementary Environmental Club has decided to cancel this portion of our event. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Here are a few suggestions for recycling electronics:
